A tragic accident on Tuesday morning left one person dead and 11 others injured as a vehicle, loaded with betel leaves, careened out of control and overturned on a national highway in the Salop area of Howrah district. The victims, a group of traders, had recently purchased betel leaves in Mecheda and were en route to Kolkata when their vehicle lost control due to a tire burst. The accident caused the betel leaves and nuts to scatter on the road.
Local residents quickly initiated rescue efforts, and authorities were alerted to the situation. The police arrived at the scene and promptly arranged for the injured individuals to be transported to the hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
